Spaces: An Online Marketplace for Arts Space Rentals

The Challenge

Artists spend considerable resources on finding, scheduling and renting space for rehearsal and performance. Amenity needs are highly specific and a creative team's schedules can be complex. Managing ongoing space rental is often an inefficient and frustrating task.

Meanwhile, venues spend considerable resources on finding the "right" renters for their space. "Right" might be as strategic as commercial renters who help subsidize non-profit rental rates or as pragmatic as responsible renters who are respectful of the environment a venue is cultivating. Finding the right renter is difficult and often leaves spaces underutilized.

The latest version of the Spaces software, currently being beta tested at NYC Performing Arts Spaces, provides several important enhancements:

Expanded Search

Search filters have expanded to address highly specific needs such as A/V equipment, flooring, instruments, acoustics, lighting, seating, wifi, and more.

Online Calendars

Currently in beta testing, venues who upgrade their space listings to include the new calendar feature are found by artists based on availability searches. You can even embed the calendar directly in your own website if you like.

Online Booking

Currently in beta testing, the online booking engine enables artists to make a reservation right on the Spaces-powered web site and for venues to accept the reservation and payment online.
